Default Painting chrome trim body color?

I've seen this done around nam on the 2nd gen minis but has anyone seen it done on the 1st gen minis?
I really want to do it to my mini but I don't know if it would look good or not.

lots of people have done it on the r53. that's what led people to do it on the r56

anyhow, it's a matter of opinion as to whether it looks good or not. I personally had an all black car and the full black out thing was a "phase" for my car and i changed it's look a few times. full matching was beautiful while i had it, but when i brought the chrome back i really appreciated the pop of shine more.

Im trying to go for the "clean" look, and I think it would look pretty cool to at least paint the chrome around the lights brg. How much do you think a body shop would charge me to paint the chrome around the lights, the door handles and the gas cap?

Sherwin-Williams has all the color codes and can put it in a spray can for you.

Could always use vinyl. Removable, easier and cheaper.

I've done it on many cars. The key is to prep it really well. Doing it your self will work, but it's better to have a pro do it. I'd do certain things vinyl if you're willing. Like the body line you should just do with a black out kit in vinyl. Painting it isn't going to work out well. Door handles and gas cap are worth painting if you do it right. Especially considering how much effort it is to take the handles off.

Everything in moderation. It's easy to lose the unique lines of the MINI with too much blacking out or painting all of the surfaces. There's nothing wrong with a little chrome here & there.

Has anybody seen color matched their doorhandles or gas cap? I'm pretty sure I'm going to do the lights but I don't know if the handles and gas cap would be over doing it..

I love how it looks on your car drob, you were actually the inspiration for me to post this thread haha.

So what do you guys think about painting the headlight rings brg, and the door handles and the gas cap white (to match the roof). Im planning on painting the wheels white, and lowing the mini when the coil overs come. Oh and Id paint the chrome around the bottom of the window black. Is anyone decent at Photoshop and could they do a quick shop of this photo?
