Were building a new race motor!

Earlier this month I blew up my engine in the race Mini at the US Touring Car race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. Ive been running & calling around desperately trying to put my engine back together in time for this weekends USTCC race in Las Vegas.

Rather then scrambling the engine back together with just one new piston in the cylinder that failed.

I have decided to forget about this weekends race, and to use the the fund$ that we would have spent on racing this weekend to do it RIGHT & completely rebuild the engine to race spec's.

This way we will have the whole engine, clutch & drive-train setup right to race hard next year, and built tough to make it through all next years racing schedule without failure.

Steve's Auto Clinic is pulling the engine block out today, then it's off to the machine shop for all kinds of unmentionable goodness!

Cheers, Bob

well it's a bummer you're not racing, but I'm sure that engine will be awesome when it's done! I agree with your long-term philosophy here!

Ooooh, I can imagine the sort of goodies Steve has in store for that motor. Steve's been massaging engines for years, mostly in the muscle car world and more recently in the MINI realm, so I can't wait to see what he distills from his years of experience.
