From reading the link for the white lettering - Am I right in thinking that they charge $24.95 per tyre though? That's just shy of $100 for white lettering?

Yes, that is correct. $100 really isn't all that much...

You could try the cheaper method of pens, but it will wear off before the week is over if you drive your car.

I could see trying a cheap paint pen method to make sure you want it, but according to the site you'll have to take extra steps to remove all of the paint so that the adhesive holds well.

There must be a better paint out there that adheres to rubber than the pens and the $100 method, as that still seems quite a lot for white letters on tyres to me!

Some people are spray painting on their tires (RWB, Idlers, etc), but again, that lasts about 1-2 weeks with use.

Keep in mind you're talking about a flexible object that is constantly flexing. Even paints with flex agent don't handle that much flexing. Add that to the fact that you can't prime the tires and that they're aren't a good surface to adhere to and you're left with a combination that won't last as long as most of us would like.

$100 is "a lot", but it's cheaper than nearly any other exterior detail you'll put on your car and it will have a fairly drastic effect.

I did the letter crayon route and it really never got as white as Iwanted and it lasted a couple of weeks at best . Trust me the die cut letters would be a lot easier to install than coloring in each one . You could spend $ 100 on five lap dances and the letters will last a lot longer than that

http://www.rangerpaint.com/

Supposedly ranger tire paint is pretty good. I did many hours of searching on this a month ago, it seems that any paint product does not have very long life on tires, but from reviews that i found it sounds like this product typically last longer than the pens, and long enough that redoing it does not become a major pain in the ass.

My ultimate verdict was there was no product worth it, lol With the speed that i go through tires, dropping $100 for the precut kits isnt worth it for me.

compared to the micro-bus next to it, it's beautiful. i think the centers of those wheels shouldv'e been gloss black to match the car, otherwise the tire sidewall is perfect
