Got the subframe disassembled and just wanted to document with before shots prior to rebuilding it all and cleaning it up. It's quite the mess at the moment.

Haha the rear suspension is such a mess. I'm convinced the previous owner used this car as a rally car. I've never seen so much dirt caked on parts and the interior is filled with endless amounts of little pebbles It'll be good to clean up the subframe and replace most of the rest with new parts.

Well if you've got questions, let me know. I'm just about done with both of my subframe rebuilds. Wish I had a welder and some steel. I would have boxed in and reinforced a few sections before re-installing it.

Yeah I think both subframes will get some reinforcement and then some lightening/trimming to balance it out.

I would have loved just a few gussets and a plate for a real solid jacking point.

I'm still not sure what possessed the previous owner(s) to crudely cut out 3 gaping holes to mount 2 small 6x9 speakers on the rear shelf, but I'm working on repairing it. The only panels available now-a-days are from the later models so they come with 2 big holes from the OEM speakers that were equipped in the more modern Minis which is not in line with the look I'm going for. Fortunately, Dan from RestorationMini was parting out an early model car and he snatched the parcel shelf panel for me with the two smaller holes. This will be in line with the back-dated style that I'll be going with.

Nice one. Dan's got a lot of stuff laying around. Glad he could get you hooked up.

I have been buying some things off of him as well. I am still in need of parts. I may just email him and see what he has got.

As always. Great updates and photos. Love it.
