Default heat wrapping intake parts r53

lately I've seen more and more people using that gold heat wrap, especially the dsm crowd. wrapping everything from oil catch cans(not sure why) to the sides of intercooler cores and piping. my question might be a dumb one but has anyone used this heat wrap on r53 intake parts and the intercooler horns? have you seen a noticeable drop of intake tempurature? if no ones tried this i might go ahead and test it out myself.

for reference:

It appears to have some heat reflecting quality to it...but once those parts heat up, that same wrap will actually do the opposite than what was intended and keep those same parts from dissipating the heat. Unless, of course, there is sufficient air flow under the hood while moving and a way for the heat to escape while not moving.

It's for the bling..............it will help some with the heat soak, but after a bit of driving all is good again.

Rice...

IMO your money is better spent controlling heat in other ways on an r53.

From what I understand heat is the biggest issue on the exhaust size of the Tritec engine. Bigger exhaust valves and a header with no pre-cat help a lot...

As much as i would like to find a use for some of that material I can not see one legitimate use for it on a r-53

I wrapped the intake tube from the 'charger to the throttle body in this stuff, my thinking is that you've paid for an uprated intercooler to cool the intake temp, which is then sent to the engine via the throttle body, this pipe is nestled between the hot engine and the radiator, so when the car is moving this area is washed in hot air from the radiator and the engine, so for £15 I thought I'd give it ago, temps don't seem that have been affected adversely by it, the car made great power for the mods.
I also covered the alta intake with it for added bling
