So my new Mazda came with tint.
Never had it before, because, well - I dunno... Before I dive into a gazillion InterWebs search results, thought I'd ask here for advice on cleaning & caring for the film on the windows. Assuming that Windex or similar is bad for the film. What about Invisible Glass? And on one window there is a tiny spot with air bubbles (might be a speck of dirt), I suspect it is what it is and life goes on - but if there are any harmless ways to try to work those out I'm game. Should I just get a vinyl squeegee out and try to work to the edge? |

don't know what's on yours but my Tint guy uses a 3m metallic film tint that you can use anything to clean basically, Windex, alcohol, whatever , it's lifetime guaranteed (they even pay the labor) if it screws up
Years ago when he did them , he had a silicone type cleaner spray that you had to use to on them , no Windex/ammonia products..... the bubbles, no clue...is it factory tint? if so, I'd show it to them and have it fixed, it's only gonna get worse over time in my experience

I always get my windows tinted (that's a normal thing in Australia).
All installers have recommended that I use a 1:2 mix of methylated spirits and water. I think you call that 'denatured alcohol'? NEVER use any amonia-based products - apparently it can break down the adhesive. |

the only thing with the metallic film is it can block your "EZ PAY" signal if you have one of those things for the toll booths/bridges.......never had that problem, no tolls around here...

Cool. Non-ammonia based cleaners seems to be the rule of thumb.
Not factory tint. Being a used car I don't have much recourse for the bubbles. ![]() They are tiny, so hopefully they will not expand. If they do, is it reasonably easy to get a single window redone? |

yes, but it will probably not match.

Getting tint off is a huge pain, you're probably better off getting a professional to do it. It takes steam and patience...

Oh yeah - no desire to dicker with that myself...
Just trying to get an idea of the hassle. ![]() |
