I need to figure out a better lube for my suspension pivots. The huge one above the crank is making a huge racket. Jamis told me to use Krytech, but it only lasts a few hours before the creaks are back. Maybe I'll get a teflon grease or something.

finally got out in the leaves. this is my first time riding in the fall, and it was a wild experience. all trails needed to be ridden by memory, because i couldn't see the actual single track. this shot is looking straight down the trail.

yeah, i called the police and will get in touch with the insurance company tomorrow. hopefully that goes smoothly. the good news is it's the end of the season so i have a bit of time to pick out a replacement.

i'll be checking craigslist, but i doubt i'll ever see it again.

That's terrible. Sorry to hear that. I remember back when I was involved in riding bike theft seemed to be a regular occurrence, especially in areas that were known for good riding.

Here are the two rides I spent the most time on a few years ago...

Raced on the Morewood twice to see if competition was something I was interested in. Ended up going over the bars on a practice run at Diablo and messed my shoulder up pretty bad. I was still very involved in baseball at that point, so I had to make a call. Riding took a back seat, then eventually faded out once cars came into the picture.

My uncle recently got a new bike and gave me his old Specialized Epic. Looking to build that up this winter and get riding again, this time for exercise instead of pure adrenaline.

thanks for all the well wishes guys. still no movement on craigslist or the local bike forums. i'm pretty much sure this little guy is gone to me. the good news is that the insurance company will be sending me a check for both bikes. the deprecation and the deductible will cancel out and i should be able to replace the superlight at no cost to me. now the only decision is whether i stick with the superlight or go with the new superlight 29er.

How tall are you? I'm 5'10 and after a few test rides found that the "27.5/650b" size works best for my riding style. Problem is, not many people make them yet (or tires).
