Marla Singer and I got to Hoon around in a Tesla Model S P85+ this weekend. We took it though the paces on the canyon roads north of Los Angeles. There was no choice but to leave the stereo off as the silence was very cool. You could hear the birds in the trees at 60mph.
Better than Disneyland, for me, this is a highlight of 2014. Driving this car felt like nothing else on the road. All the power at the onset is such a wild feeling, you have no idea you're in a 4600 lb sedan. The regenerative braking takes a moment to get used to, but the performance and refined ride is beyond exemplary. The materials used, fit, and finish all come together very well. Very proud of America driving this car, and happy to be an investor in this company. here is a YouTube Video: Samtrak drives the Tesla Model S 0-60 on canyon roads man, we look cool ![]() P85+ means faster ![]() in the moment ![]() for ray ![]()

Those are the biggest screens I've seen in a stock interior. How does mechanical engine braking feel compared to regenerative type braking? Assuming my understand isn't wrong.

you barely use the regular brake pedal at all. only under hard braking conditions. just modulating the throttle pedal should be all that is needed for average daily driving. you would still use mechanical brakes to stop all the way, but most at speed maneuvers are modulated through the throttle only.
the regen braking pulls back a lot more than i thought it would compared to other hybrid/electric cars ive been in. i like the theory, but i'm not sure what this does to the 'drift-ability' of the car. sadly, i wasn't allowed to make any tire noise ![]()

nVidia is really proud of those screens. they still lack a performance minimalistic night mode.

Wonder how "hackable" any aspect of the car is? Would be neat to get into the screens and tweak a bit, especially as noted for a night mode.
I really miss that feature of my old SAAB 9-3... The E90 dash is like an amber searchlight array by comparison. Love the Tesla S, just a really sublime car it seems. |
