Default Finally, my intro, or "how M|U saved my life"

Well, I've been around but never made one of these, so here's my story:

Always loved minis, from the time I saw the old ones as a kid. Grew up in Europe around Peugeots(106s on widened steelies and stuff like that). Moving to the U.S. a Pug was out of the cards, so the dream to own a mini came alive again as a possibility.
Got my first R53, a yellow number basically held together with tape, barebones(no options really) backfiring and all that, used, and rode it for a while till it burned to the ground. Next up was my current R50, which I managed to get a lot tamer and with some comfort options

It lived its quiet life for a while. Many memories in it, such as the "drunk cam". It was my invention for giving drunk people rides home, like the retribution cam. Basically when I dropped them off I took funny pictures for them to see how inebriated they were. Glovebox full of memories.

Here's where M|U comes into play. Thanks to a lot of really bad relationships strung along in the past year, destroying both my financial state and my self-esteem, things were looking not so bright. This whole time I took a break from my car and much of everything. Then one day, sulking, I decided to keep myself busy to cheer up so I slapped on a white tee and my old Levi's, and decided to say hello to my old neglected friend. Spent the day cleaning my engine bay, took off my wheels and power washed them, detailed the interior, took it for a spirited ride, and for the first time in a long time, I was smiling... hard!

So next step in my reinvigoration of the hobby was looking online for ideas on mods and more things to keep my thoughts positive. I was a member of NAM, and going back I realized how little I had in common with that place. I was looking for ideas, and all I got was "put pulley in car, rawr. wait, no S, what R50 is?". Not quite my crowd, and stripes were not really my thing, nor were Union Jack mirror caps. Then I stumbled upon some pics of Dopamine's ride. I realized wherever that dude was, is where I needed to be. And that's where my love for M|U began.

Coming here I fell in love with the mentality, the friendliness of the people, and the general helpful nature of the place. So thank you M|U, for managing to be my rock during some pretty crappy times. For being the place where I could dream up mods and look at dope rides, and get the perspective I needed on the future of my R50. Thank you everyone for unknowingly helping me get positive and rediscover the joy of MINI ownership. I see more and more my car as my little kid more than just a vehicle. These little things do have soul.

Sorry for the long a$$ intro, but that's my story. Give it up for being up at 2am haha.

Haha the funny thing is that the r50 with a full suspension upgrade is faster in the twistys then a pullied and slightly moded r53.

m|u antidepressent against NAMitis

side effects may include stretching, scraping, and excessive drooling.

There's no way a Cooper can be faster at anything than a Cooper S! Sell the Cooper and buy an S already. Any "real performance car driver" will have an S.

Good story.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I might share in some of the embarrassing pics, just gotta get some censor marks to protect the not so innocent.
Garage thread as soon as the weather holds some open skies for a shoot, current bear magnet temporary gap and all.
And I haven't auto-x'd in a long time thanks to an injury to my knee, but having done it in both, I stand by the belief that I prefer "driving a slow car fast rather than a fast car slow". But then again my old S was a piece of junk.
