Ok, so for the time being, I put an extra washer in and the plates work. No more noise. The only thing is, the top nut doesn't have enough threads to "lock" into place. They're almost there but not quite. I put some blue loctite on them to help.

Is the car safe to drive like that until I go back to the shop this thursday?

Anyone? I know I'm being a pain in the ass with all this, but I'd like to know if my car is drivable for the time being.

Stop worrying. Check the nut every once in a while. You'll be fine. If it starts getting loose you will know...it will start clunking.

Ok thanks. I just test drove the car about a mile and the nuts backed off about 1/8". Hopefully they'll stay there.

I just grabbed some new nuts with less threads to replace the old ones. I'm assuming I can just pop the old nut off and put the new one on without taking the entire coilover out.

Wow they backed off that fast? That seems really odd

I take back what I said. I went for another drive and when I checked afterwards they were back to their original spots. My wheels must have been turned that 1/8".

Except now the right coilover makes creaking noises when I go over bumps at slow speeds. Doesn't seem to effect anything, just odd.
