Default 2012 F1 Discussion

Figure it's all over for 2011, let's focus our efforts going forward.

Story of the weekend: The Iceman cometh! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hu8Uy9PkS5g

I am surprised he didn't sign for Williams but I suppose that Lotus Renault is the better choice at the moment. I'll say it right now though, Webber is going to blow it in 2012 again and Kimi will land himself a drive at RBR in 2013. He'll use 2012 to get used to the tires and DRS/KERS combo then use the Renault connection to get his foot in the door.

It's too convenient that the only teams he considered were Lotus and Williams(Renault power next year)... why not Force India? or Sauber? That teamed up with his personal Red Bull sponsorship makes too many ties to the Bulls. It has to be Kimi's end game.

Other than that, go Ferrari!

RBR will dominate for one more year. That is all.

Processional racing will continue, Bernie will try to kill F1 in Europe, F1 will not return to the US,

And I will watch and root for Kimi. Give me detached competence any day.

And Lewis and Massa will continue to battle mid field and blame everyone but themselves.

An interesting perspective on the politics behind the demise of the Austin race. Looks like moving it to the Sunday before election day, with all of the headlines about the public money paying Bernie his $25 million fee, likely killed it.

Just saw that Austin and Bahrain remain on the F1 calendar for next year. We'll see.

Anyone seen the hideous nose treatment that the cars are taking on this year? The cars look like they've been crash tested at low speed.

Seems only the McLaren has avoided such fate and is actually a gorgeous car:

Yeah, most of the cars this year so far are absolutely horrendous. The Ferrari makes me sad. I hope it's at least fast... front pull rod was an interesting choice. :\

Anyone else watch the race last night?

I was really happy to see Kimi back in a F1 car. With two years off, he showed little signs that he forgot how to drive. Great run by him too. I'd bet we'll see a few podiums this year stating that beautiful Lotus. I was impressed by Alonso's push too.

I was happy to see Maldanado doing so well, keeping up with Alonso and all.... until that last lap.... oops.

As I did last year, I'll watch the first few races, if it looks like it's gonna be a wash, I'll start bashing F1 like it's the worst thing ever.

Good race (from 3rd place back) But I'd rather see Jenson win a race by a mile than Sebastian.

Watched last nights F1 and todays Sebring and found both to be quite entertaining . Will be interesting to see how the season develops with the new rules . Also caught the little show with Lewis and Tony Stewart switching cars at a moist Watkins Glenn as well.

I am surprised that Ferrari are as lacking in the development process as they are. Didn't they start working on this years car mid season last year?

I am also really surprised that they went and changed the front suspension from a pushrod to a pullrod. Masa doesn't seem to care for it, Alonso makes it work.

I think we are going to see good races by Kimi, it is good to see him back. Love his attitude. Maybe this is the year we will Schumacher back on the podium?

The new cars look funky with that step nose. Mercedes have the best looking car, followed by Lotus.

Is there really going to be a US Gran Prix this year in Austin???

I'm a bit of a Jensen fan, so I was really happy with how the race went. How the HECK did Alonso wrestle that moose of a car around to 5th!?!?

Excellent start to the season for me.

Alonso's driving skills are very high on the scale but so is his temper. His little hissy fit when the marshals would not push his car all the way across the beach HE put himself on was telling. It seemed as if when he got out of the car and realized that the marshal looked to be about twice his size he calmed down , a little .

The look on the marshal's face was priceless in slow-mo, hahaha.
