i really think people over paying for carbon fiber that only saves mabye 3 lbs is pointless, lose the weight on your body before you do silly stuff like that, IMO

Now THAT I would love to have. Painted, of course. That's a ton of weight savings.

The hatch hardly weighs anthing. Thats not going to be too big of a savings.

I too would like to have one, i would also like the hood and fenders, but the prices are a bit steep.

once you add the glass back in, the wiper motor (if you still have one), the spoiler, etc, your probably almost up to the weight of a stock hatch....

Do they make Plexi windows for our cars yet?

Er, that doesn't make any sense. You're replacing stamped steel with carbon fiber, so you will most definitely save a significant amount of weight.

Well, no... you'd get the weight of the stock hatch, minus the weight reduction of changing from steel to carbon. I'm guessing it'd probably be around 5-10 lbs of weight reduction. That doesn't seem like a lot numerically, but when you consider that the weight lies behind the rear wheels, pretty much as far aft as possible on the car, AND it sits very high on the vehicle, I think you'd notice a pretty significant difference in the way the car drives, thanks not only to weight reduction, but to reduced rotational inertia and a lower center of gravity.

Sure. Buy a sheet of plexi, cut, and mount.

For a race car? Yep! I'd sooner get a CF hood, though--more weight to offset there.

I'd paint it anyway, so it wouldn't be at all for looks.

The carbon fiber wing isn't really for weight reduction, since the stock piece is made of ABS plastic. I'll be ditching the wiper motor pretty soon, though.

carbon fiber wing for use, not weight. Do this at the same time for cheaper paint cost rather than do each independantly.
