Thumbs up MINI Automatic A/C doesn't suck after all!

Remember how I've said that the MINI's auto A/C sucks because you can only turn the defrost on to full blast? Well, this morning, I discovered that isn't true!

If you just push the button, it'll go into full-blast panic mode and the light on the button will flash. However, if you hold down the button, the light will be on steadily and you can adjust fan speed, temperature, and even share it with the foot vents. SWEET!

PS - After I discovered it, I checked the manual to see if it mentions this feature. It does. Moral of the story: RTFM! :p

Well I'll be damned!

What did you need the defrost for over in Cali? Is it snowing ashes again?

What's climate control? (I'm not lucky enough to have all those goodies on my Coop) That's OK, the money I saved on that stuff got put into suspension and motor mods!!!

I had Auto A/C on my MCS, but I'm really please to just have the regular manual A/C on my MC.

Basically, you can tell it "this is the temperature I want", and it automatically adjusts fan speed and which vents it uses to dispense the conditioned air. For example, if you set it to like 80, it'll automatically blow it on your feet and some on the windshield. If you set it to 60, it'll blow mostly from the dash vents and some on your feet.

You can override the whole automatic thing if you want, so it's no biggie. My only annoyance with it was that the defrost only seemed to want to turn on at full blast, and that's annoying when you're trying to listen to music or have a conversation.

The biggest benefit of it is probably that it looks like a MINI logo.

I'm with Dave, if I got a new MINI, it would be without the auto.

Same here. It's not worth the cash, as I don't even use the automatic feature.
