Look forward to your progression

Random question but how is it comparing to the MINI? Especially the fuel economy and handling, reason I ask is its on the list of cars I'm considering next

So far this thing is awesome. I'm still on my first tank of gas so all I have to go by is the computer which has me @ 24 mpg ATM... A little better than the mini. It feels more powerful than my mini especially that kick in the pants around 4k. I think my mini has lost a step over the last several months so its hard to say. I haven't tossed it around curves too much yet but it seems to stick well.

Also, I love the sound. It has sort of a baritone burble to it that reminds me of the boxer engines in WRXs.

I pulled up the arm rest this morning and found an iPod plug. Its extra sweet since I haven't had a use for my nano since I got my Android phone. I need to play around some more and figure out how to connect my phone's media to the radio with Bluetooth... interested to hear how that sounds versus the direct connect iPod. I imagine the iPod would be better, but it'll still be nice to have the option.

I just read this from Car & Driver's 2011 10 Best Cars article
Quote:
At the top of the Golf range is the car every enthusiast should own at least once in his or her lifetime, the GTI. As practical as the Golf, the GTI adds serious performance to the mix with its strong and efficient 200-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Its chassis is so well sorted that it can devour back roads as happily as it swallows the indignities of the daily commute. Sure, some of its competitors might be quicker than the GTI, but you’ll grow out of them. The GTI gets a hold of you and never lets go.

Very nice!! I love the interior and glad to see coils at the top of your to-do list. Keep us updated.

There's something I don't see a lot of in the background....a Dirt Brown (always liked that color) Kona edition Focus.

Looks Sweet! Does it have navigation? Looks like you could add it pretty easy. Back up camera too.

No nav. I'm actually pretty happy that it doesn't have it. My experience with in-car nav systems is they aren't as reliable as my $100 Tom Tom. Difficult to use with poor decision making. Plus I could buy 4 new Tom Toms for the price of updating the nav DVDs. I drove my mother's 2010 Sienna for 7 weeks while my Mini was being worked on and the nav was a let down. The back up camera was nice to see if there were things immediately behind but it was so deceiving that I never used it. Things that were 10 feet behind looked like they were 15 yards away.

Edit: Now if the system could interface with Google Maps on my Android phone that would be tits!
