Default Rear boot warning light

So, my R53 has started doing something weird. Driving it home tonight, the boot warning light was flashing and it kept beeping at me. I assumed that the body shop forgot to hook something back up, but when I got home, I took the rear latch assembly apart, and everything was connected.

I stuck a screwdriver in the latch (to simulate a closed boot), and the cargo light went out, but the warning light on the dash stayed on. I fiddled with it and fiddled with it to no avail.

Does anyone know what gives?

Maybe they moved a wire causing a short to appear from bouncing down the road, esp. if some of the moisture that caused your rust, got to a switch or some wiring.

Ugh! That sounds like it'll be hard to find.

Honestly, that was my only thought since that should just be an "indicator" light, and not work like an air bag light, where it sets a code that has to be cleared.

Well I lucked out. While loading up the other car for our road trip, I noticed that the seam between the hood and the front bumper on the Mini looked off. So I popped the hood and re-slammed it, and that fixed it. It never occurred to me to check the bonnet because all the work they did was at the back, but someone obviously had it opened, maybe to look for the battery? (which they at some point had disconnected).

So I'm good!
