I feel like if I talk about it too much I'll curse things. Haven't paid for it yet....

but its a MK II 1969 Austin Cooper, seemingly pretty unmolested.

it's in Oakland, and needs a bit of work before we can drive it home. Hopefully we'll have the full plan ironed out tomorrow.

good to hear! we've had it inspected by a guy in town who works on classics exclusively. It got a good review except for a few things, but we're getting them fixed.
It's far from perfect, but it seems like a good little car, and I'm excited about improving it.

got any recommendations for the best repair books?

Haynes manual is a 100% must. It is your general guideline for everything on the car. Manuals after that really depend on what you plan to do yourself with the car. I have them all because I refuse to have anyone else work on my car after seeing the crap the PO did to MY car. I swear mine was about ready to burn to the freakin ground.

Motor work, there are books on tuning, rebuilding, upgrading, yadda yadda. But the tuning books are always helpful on carb'd cars.

Looking at the pics, it looks like it has a generator. I would check to see if the car is a negative or positive earth before you do anything. It could make a difference down the road if you choose to do any wiring at all.. Even replacing the battery will mean you need to be aware.

Then the suspension seems to be hydrolastic. This isn't an issue, but check and see if it leaks. If it does, you might have to get it repaired, replaced, or convert to dry suspension which could be a few hundred dollars itself. Not sure who inspected the car, but there are a LOT of good guys in that area that know their stuff.

Keep us posted on this. I'm excited for yall.

The suspension has gone flat, we're having a dry setup installed before we take it home. It's more than a few hundred, but the the car came with a full conversion kit.

this one I believe

nice new rubber cones!

I had no idea about the generator. thanks for the heads up, I'll look into it. I don't care to be electrocuted.

I could be wrong on the generator, but on the early 998's the coil was mounted the generator with a bracket in that same orientation. But i could just be retarded. haha. So better to check and know for future reference.
