Guess what Chase? DINAN had a cam.

My 04 DINAN car (the first Beast) was pretty quick. It had the DINAN pully, exhaust, air box and software.

They don't have one anymore. Sold out. One of the local MINI guys has a Stage 6. No suspension he said. Everything else though. He said he never had any trouble. Some people have said they had problems with the exhaust rusting out. Seems unlikely. I was looking at his car this morning. Sounded pretty good.

What's everyone's impression of the DINAN stuff? Was thinking about going all DINAN, but am hearing mixed reviews.

I didn't want to say anything negative, but since you brought it up. My DINAN exhaust sounded good, but would I buy one again? Hell no. First off, they are an axle back... Pffftt The DINAN rep saw mine and immediately ordered me a new one out of embarrassment. He was literally on the phone with Steve Dinan, explaining what he was looking at. Because of the design, one tip would turn a bronze color, while the other stayed polished. Also, the inside of the bronze one would always be black because of the flow design. Steve said it was because mine was literally the first one to be sold, it was made with the wrong kind of metal. He even had him touching it with a magnet. Well, guess what, my second looked just like the first one within a month.

Decent software, mediocre parts. That's my impression after having the software on my first R53 and playing around with the parts JoMo had on his original R53.

Wait a minute, you played with my parts? See if I ever drink around you again.

Ditto on the exhaust. I went thru 2 under warranty their and just gave up on a 3rd because I knew it would be the same sh*t. Also the rep at DINAN in mountain view was kind of a prick, basically saying that MINI was not a high priority for them, they focus on BMW.

So where will one go for support when these fire sale parts die...

There is better out there for less money that comes with support.

Even after discounts it'll stil be the most expensive mods on the market
All the suppliers seem to be lowering their prices on the R53 stuff now.

That matches what I've been hearing. I do know someone who has had the exhaust on both their MINIs with no problems. I'm not willing to take that chance. Nathan definitely has a point, as usual. Doesn't look like their support will be there after they close all of this out unless you can get in touch with Steve Dinan directly.

So you've seen two DINAN exhausts with no discoloration? I'd like to see that.

Don't get excited. The cam *specification emphasis on torque at low rpm and not HP. It was a good match for *DINAN's complete package. Without the *package the cam alone most would not really like the impressions of the install.
What you think I didn't check it out Chase?
