Default Mountain Bikes!

Just wanted to start a thread on general, off-topic bike banter...

I've been re-bitten by the biking bug, and even though I really enjoy road cycling, and haven't abandoned it, I'm especially obsessed with mountain biking at the moment. Been riding the crap out of my Gary Fisher Cake 3, but I'm starting to do some more freeriding type stuff, so I'm already planning my next bike project.

Here's the frame I'm thinking of starting with... So sweet... Transition BottleRocket...

I also really want to get an urban type bike to screw around on at the park (I miss that)... And I dig the Transition Trail-or-Park...

Anyway... Carry on!

Cool, I'm soooo out of touch with what's new in bikes, so I can catch up here while surfing Mini stuff!

A mate just gave me his old Cannondale mtb hard tail - not sure what model it is - says 'CAD3' on it...anyway...it had a bent rim and needed a few things cleaned up on it from hard competition riding that I got fixed up. It's about 5 years old, but now that it's all fixed up, i'm looking to get into mountain biking competitvely....for now I've got some learning to do....

From what I've picked up in the VERY short time I've been riding - cannondale x-lite CAD3 hard tail, mavic rims, bomber (?) forks, hunchinson (sp?) tyres, Shimano XTR shifters derailur and cluster, syncros (sp?) handle bar (got a sweet CF neck on it ), dury grips (really sticky!), crank bros mallet pedals and erm....yeah..I don't really know what I'm talkin about yet! I'm sure it's a bit ghetto compared to what you're talking about, but all I know is, I'm havin fun!

In fact, I'm sitting here sweating because I was out on a ride and I rushed back because it's about to hail...

Last summer when I was home I fixed up my old Diamondback that I used to spend tons of time on over at Crystal Cove State Park in Newport. It looks pre-historic next to what is out there now. I miss the mountain biking in Socal. I'd like to pick up a single speed like the one in KiLO's post above for some general around town/light trail cruising. Bikes and MINI's. I love this forum.

Dooood, do the hardtail. That is cool.

I like fully suspended bikes, but I also love the looks one garners when you beat somebody's ass on the trail riding a hardtail when they are smugly bouncing along on their full suspension rigs. Lower maintenance too.

I am looking forward to putting more miles on my Klein Pulse Pro once I'm outta' school.

I have a nice road bike too, but ripping through the woods on some singletrack is the best.

Yeah, I definitely dig riding the road bike, but the mountain bike is just so fun, especially when you get out on some singletrack with some good jumps.

Saro, unfortunately those aren't my bikes (yet) , but I am in the market to get something like the "Trail-or-Park" soon. And, those are stock photos from Trasition's website... Haha, sorry... I wish I took those photos and I wish they were my bikes!

Yeah, some of those road bikes are pretty funky looking... They are almost only good as art pieces. They're all single-speeds too... That white one is kinda cool though...
