Most of this we have seen before

You have probably noticed that we haven't published the 2007 Autocross schedule. The reason is that Chargers have priority at Qualcom and their season is still going on. Until the Chargers lose or go to the Super Bowl, the stadium is not going to schedule Autocross dates. This means that we will probably get our first Autocross on relatively short notice.
I take that last line to mean we may have an SD event in February and that they are putting a priority on getting an event off sooner rather than later.

If only the L.A. chapter would get the same fire lit for getting an early season autocross.

Dave do you think any of this has to do will insurance? Remeber when that dude crashed at Qualcomm a few Auto X's back.....maybe the BMWCCA's insurance "reviewed" what exactly entails a Auto X and decided against insureing (sp?) them, thus delaying the start of the 2007 Season. Just a thought.....

No, I don't think that's playing in, since that was in San Diego and they seem to be on top of things to get an event up as soon as they can get solid scheduling. Also, I think Gordon is a straight shooter and he didn't run for SD BMWCCA president just to have autocross de-emphasized.

However, I'm not sure what the reluctance is with the LA BMWCCA. You'd think they'd be trying to get an event going. California Speedway has already done some scheduling for 2007, so I know that venue could be available if they wanted it for early season autocross.

I have a theory on this. They want to do it in the summer only. So I can be hot and sweaty and miserable while I am shagging cones. That's what I think.

New Theory

LA BMWCCA Site
Autocross Chairman: Open
During 2006 Gio was listed as the autocross chair, now it appears to be open. I have an e-mail in to clarify that (since the directory still says 2006 on it, not 2007) and also requested an update on the status of autocross within the chapter.

I'll let you know what I hear back.

SD chapter puts up quite a bit for insurance for these events, specifically for motor sport type of events. There have been worse at the auto-x's over the years. I doubt this has anything to do with insurance. The SD chapter has a very healthy bank account to cover these things.

Um... I'd have to "healthy bank account" is an understatement.

I've seen video of a 350Z jumping a curb and going into a lightpole at Qualcomm. I'm pretty certain that was worse than the M3 that slid into the wall.

Yeah, SD is pretty hard core about autocrossing, so if there is any way to get a lot, they'll do it. Of course with so many M3 drivers, I have seen them pass on the smaller lots. In the late 90's they used to alternate lots, so we would only do a long course a couple times a year. Those smaller tighter courses were way fun for us four banger drivers!

As much as I want the autocross to start ASAP, the Chargers should have won the game. They lost because of too many little mistakes (fumbles and missed interceptions) and a few stupid penalties (unsportsmanlike conduct ). Oh well, there's always next year.

So... autocross next weekend???

Sounds like my autocross driving! They sure did play a sloppy game.

I wasn't sad to see the Chargers go. Hopefully SD BMWCCA gets scheduled for something in February.

San Diego SCCA has their schedule together with an event on February 10/11 at Qualcomm West Lot. I'm hoping this means SD BMWCCA will be posting their first event soon.
