One thing I really like about my rollbar (built by bones) is that I can put my four track wheels in the area that used to be the rear seat. The harness bar stops them from rolling forward. Without being able to put the four wheels in the back like that, I'd need a trailer when I went to the track. I can fit four wheels, all my track gear including tools and a jack, and tenting stuff for the weekend - all in the back of the MINI. Okay, so the passenger's seat is taken up with my big plastic box... but it does all fit.

I am getting ready to have a half cage added to my R56. I would second the recommendation for a custom cage. For a daily driver it is important that your head won't come near the bar in the event of an accident. IMHO this can be best handled with a custom cage. I got a price locally of around $800-$1000 for this. I think with any of the pre made cages you will be near or at this with installation anyway.

I am dropping my car off this weekend to have it put in. I will post some pics when it is finished.

Chase: check out Orbit 1 Racing at Motor Sports Ranch. They are a good custom cage builder that could do the welding for a pretty good price. Not sure where you are located (I live in Dallas) but it might be a good bet for ya. There site is:http://orbit1racing.com/

Thumbs up roll bar

yeah and if you are anywhere close to Winston-Salem,NC the Sneed Speed Roll bar is the one that i am running, and those guys do a damn good job! They are probably the best mini shop that i have ever been to, definitely straight shooters. and their prices are very reasonable.

Anyone know what the weight reduction is from remove the back seat and then adding a roll bar. Is it like 30 lbs for the seat?

I remember seeing the sneed one weighing 36lbs, about the same as back seats. I could be wrong but I think autopower weighs a bit more, but hey at least with the sneed one your not gaining lbs

Sorry for bringing back an old thread

but I am going to pick up an used roll-bar and had a few questions.

First of all, its autopower race version with optional diagnal bar, etc...

I was wondering if anyone have instruction / manual for installtion.

I believe autopower bolt-in bars require backing plates for mounting spots?

I wanted to confirm that so I can order some in case the seller does not have the plates anymore.

Any advise would be appreciated

hey man just messaged you back. sadly i dont have a manual or anything but tried to explain the best way to install it. also all four corners should have backing plates with them. hopefully my information helped you! i might be in baltimore this weekend to go look at a mini for my gf. I'm sure I'd be able to hit you up in DC on the way back to give you a hand if your installing it!
