Default R53 Engine mods?

Wasn't sure which section to post this in but my question is;
With all the engine mods out there that I've seen, is there a reason I haven't seen anything about boring out to a bigger capacity engine (1.6 - 1.8 or even 2.0)? I used to own a Mark IV GTI VR6 and you could get a block out to 3.4 or even 3.6 if you pushed it. Just a random question.

Jan @ RMW has done 2.0 stroker motors for a while, there's just a lot involved, since you can get upwards of 275-300 whp with the right bolt on's and even more with stock bore & beefed up internals w/ those bolt ons, really makes the need for extra cubic/litres not ness., you start getting upwards of 300 whp in a Mini & not only is it a pretty wild ride, but you also start getting into the area of breaking driveline parts. Plus with different cylinder capacities and/or different compression ratios you also start getting into some interesting tuning issues with our ECU's.

Jan does 1.8 & 2.0 stroker motors. He also has Rotrex and now TVS blower kits among other big power mods. Check out his site and forum. He has a good thread there about his stroked motors.

You bumped a 2 year old thread and that's all you could come up with?

Yeah it was kinda weak. I'm gonna start spending more time working on my material, then I'll be back, and I'll make you love me. You'll see.
