Default Cooking and Baking

As you can see, I'm not on the site much, but I thought I might be more inclined to jump on if it involved some girl talk. So...I thought I'd create a thread to showcase and discuss something I love...cooking and cake decorating. Anyone else interested?? Here is my most recent creation - a Hello Kitty cake for a friend's daughter's 15th birthday per her request.

Thanks! Well, I'm pretty new at this and have never used fondant (used for Kitty's head, bow and pearls) so it took me a while. I worked on the gum paste flowers and baking the cake Wed, frosting and molding the head on Thurs, and finished by Fri at noon. I'm thinking of attempting a couple Mini cakes for the new Mini dealership coming to Louisville.

oh wow. that's quite the effort. when chanel surfing with the missus we've come across the baking competition shows. the work they put into the cakes are crazy! my mom used to be pretty creative with our birthday cakes, but that was just with regular cake and frostings. i did get a g.i. joe tank with a pretzel for a cannon and oreos for tread wheels...

That's awesome! I think whenever mom's bake their own cakes for their kids it's pretty special to them. I love Ace of Cakes. I only aspire to be a fraction of what they are! They're amazing. Really, I could do it all day. It's like playing for grown women!

Thats awesome Bananas. Great idea for a thread, hope you dont mind me bring alittle Testosterone into it.

I love to cook ( cant bake worth a damn). When I moved to PA for a semester I missed the good southern food I grew up on so I started cooking. So far I make a mean Shrimp and Grits, and few other simple things.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is cookin up

Cool! Yes, men are always welcome! There is nothing like a man cookin' something up in the kitchen!! Hey, if you have a good recipe, feel free to post it. I love to try new things that have been tried and enjoyed.

I use The Lee Brothers Southern Cookbook for most of my stuff. Excellent recipes for all things South Carolina. Everything from the simple stuff like Sweet Tea and Boiled Peanuts, to Lowcountry Specialties like Shrimp and Grits, and Beaufort Stew, and everything in between
