Default 1976 Leyland Project

As some of you may know back in 2010 i picked up a 1960 rebodied classic mini.

I had it for 8 months and ended up moving across country. I didnt think it was a good idea to have a classic as a daily driver in North Dakota so i got rid of it. I have missed it since the day i let it go so i have been on the lookout for one and i finally picked this up a couple of weeks ago.

Its a 1976 Mini Cooper Leyland. It is basically just a rolling shell

it came with Body, front and rear subframs, steering column and wheel, pedal assembly, e-brake, Both doors, hood, boot, rear glass, wheels, and gas tank.

i had been looking for a cheap mini that i could totally redo myself from the ground up.
Since my last one was so well finished i couldnt do much with it with it, It never felt like it was mine. So The chance to pick up this rolling shell fairly close by and affordable was a must. I am so excited to be working on this.
I have already started the body work on it and am very excited to get going on it. I will be ordering a poop ton of new body panels as soon as i get back from CHina. Even though it is a MK3 i plan on trying to do more of a Mk1 look to it.

Anyway, much more to come when i get back from China.

I put a b16 vtec in my old 90 hatch, and that thing would shit and get. since i have had my r53, a vetec classic has been my dream. 190 NA screamin horses in a classic may be the most badass thing i could think of.

maybe he meant it would not fit with the stock hood/ fenders and it would have to be the fiberglass clam shell pictured above

yeah K series =200-240hp no problem

That is not a stock front end. It's been done. Yes. There are kits. But a Busa or R1 will fit with out changing the subframe and extending the nose.

Yeah. Hence "too big for stock nose"

MT Flip Front Kit #130000

This sturdy fiberglass replica of the round-nosed Mini is pre-extended for the Honda VTEC conversion. It comes with the hinges and a latch for mounting. This kit can be used with the MTK, MTB, and MTB3 Kits.
