Default The Gran Turismo 6 Thread

I just bought it yesterday. Got to play it today on my day off. Who else is playing? I know Ashboomstick is playing because I've beaten his license record times.

Post up if you're playing and what your username is.

I'm TexasGuy5234 - Curently running around and trying to finish the "National B" races in my classic mini.

Wish I wasn't a broke-as-a-joke member of the military. Haha. I'd make one. How do you like it? Is it easier to get a "real" driving experience?

The physics are better, as is the sound quality. The new tracks are really enjoyable too.

I had 5 for PS3 but never really played it.. Do you guys think 6 is worth it if I didn't really like 5? I loved the first few, but never really got into them after the first 2 or 3.

I'm a pretty big fan of 6. It's got far more realistic physics, and it's a lot more driveable. I had some issues with 5 because some of the cars were so uncontrollable that it wasn't even fun. Plus getting the licenses was nearly impossible on 5 without hours of back to back playing the track. It was terrible. Take for instance the Dodge Viper GTS... which I've driven. It breaks the tires loose and is impossible to drive normally on GT5. Not so on GT6.

That was actually my biggest issue with GT5 (the licenses). Maybe I'll pickup a copy...

Can you tell us some more about your rig and its components? I've been looking into building my own/buying a kit for about a month now and any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sure, Its made up of all Fanatec products.

The wheel is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2.

The pedals are CSR Pedals with the optional inversion kit. (They are hinged from the top like most regular production cars)
http://us.fanatec.com/Pedals?product_id=178

The base and seat is the CSL US Seat.

Not pictured are the two shifters that are part of the CSR Shifter Set. One shifter is sequential, the other is H-pattern.

I was going to built something myself but this is a much nicer setup than I would have been able to put together in my apartment and its pretty easy to move over into the corner when i'm done using it.

im liking it so far. seems to me like this SHOULD have been GT5. nothing mindbogglingly different but the gameplay, internet, and access is a lot better.

as far as interaction goes so far i have only seen R50Paul posting lap times up in the online missions. its fun to chase your ghost!

briana and i are:

Congrats, you beat a guy who was way too drunk to be legally driving a real car. Sometimes lousy crash damage simulation comes in handy!

I agree. On GT5 the one event on the Top Gear track in either the Elise or Exige ( I cant remember which one) I could never even get past the first corner without crashing or running off the course. Frustrating as hell.

As for a rig, a relatively cheap way to go is is with the Wheel Stand Pro mounts. I've got one for my Logitech wheel and I've really liked it. Sturdy and doesn't move around when you're playing.
