Yeah, see I think that looks fantastic but I think it would seem huge at full car size. I bet scaled down to rocketman size it'd be perfect because that just looks like a modern Austin Mini. The matte silver may certainly help.

I'm not sure how easy that would be to accomplish. I don't think you could recess the bumper in any father than it already is so the slats would have to be basically stuck on top of the black bumper.
Unless you removed the whole piece and said fuck it to the regs or whatever. That might work.

I figured you could allow for movement like the black bar offers when you mount it and you would be able to have the same crash safety out of it. Larger bars might actually make the opening look smaller, so that would also help with the look.

It looks a lot better that way! Can't wait to see it with some nice wheels.

Yeah it's an improvement, still needs to come way way down though.
I actually lamed out and got some ESM wheels for experimentation. They're 18x8 et 32 all around. I wanted to get some real world measurements instead of guessing and they're white so I can get a good idea of how hard they'll be to keep clean before I go painting a nice set of wheels and regretting it later. I bolted them up last night but had a flat this morning so it might be a day or 2 before I can take pics. I think the fit will be about perfect in the front, might need a hair of camber, and I could use a small spacer in the rear. It's still hard to tell without coilovers.

When I last replied to your post I remembered you asking about the key. I don't know if you ever took yours apart, but all you have to do is take the back plate off with a small flat head screwdriver and the large round part slides right off. If you could come up with a cool leather, metal, or plastic cover for the center section you could cut down the size of the key by a big amount.
I tried uploading pics from my phone but it didn't work, so I'll just text them to you.

Yep I got them. We were having a discussion about this over at NAM. I did remove that piece and it's so much nicer now, but it looks ugly so I'm hoping someone comes up with an aftermarket piece to fit there. It should be pretty easy to make and someone already did a CAD drawing for it.
![]() Really hoping this becomes a reality. I'd pay good money for a CNCed version of this.

Ha! I just sent an email to someone about 3D printing something pretty much identical to that.

There are different grades of material now that it's being used for everything from trinkets to medical equipment. I'm pretty sure you could make one that would work, but if nothing else you could make the mold to work off of for larger quanitity production.
