Default New Member from AR/IL

Just picked up my first Mini after many years of waiting for one of my own. My friends Chase and Drew have both owned Mini's for some time now, I'm sure some of you know them. The right opportunity finally came up for me to own one and I jumped on it. I come from a background in Honda and a little Nissan. I spent two years stationed at Misawa, JP which is where my Nissan experience was. I'm currently stationed at Little Rock AFB. I travel back to IL a few times a month. My daily commute is around 25 miles one way. My main plans are to accomplish the best MPG possible, I've had a pretty good amount of experience with hyper-milling and hunting for MPG's. Here's a quick snap from right after I drove off the lot today. I'll post more after a good detail session. It's a 2007 Lighting Blue Mini Cooper, Automatic.

Great color. Welcome. Any friend of Chase and Drew is a friend of ours.

I like the idea of getting a Mini for hypermiling. It's cool that Minis can be such different things to different people. My dad went from a problematic 1994 Mercedes SL to a Mini about 6 months ago. He'd been filling up twice a week driving from Bluffton SC to Savannah GA. He's every other week now with the Mini. And he's having a blast doing it too. And that's with an S.

Thanks! Last year I did a little ecomodding project with a 1997 Civic CX, Warm Air Intake, transmission from a lean burning civic, and a Scan Gauge ii. I was able to get it up to 52 MPG on 87 Octane running averaging 63 MPH over 1000 miles. I'll be making my first 800 mile trip next weekend, so i'm hoping for good results with the Mini. I've for sure got the fever.

Did a little calculating for the first little bit of driving i've done. So far with mixed city/hwy I've gotten 44.43 MPG, that's with a little bit of sport mode here and there. I'll be leaving Wednesday afternoon for the first leg of my trip around 350 miles. I'll post up my findings after an evening of hyper-milling and 0 sport mode.

So far 1100 miles in 10 days, should've gotten into one years ago. Average 40.1 MPG at 72 MPH over the 800 mile trip home. Couldn't be more pleased. Planning to make it out to the Dragon next Spring to hang.
