These links are nice and all, but they only show differences between the tires sizes, not if they rub or will fit on our cars.
Guess it's off to search, to figure out if a 225/45/17 will fit inside an R53 without too much rubbing. ![]() |

When you push the limits of tire/wheel fitment, then you really have to do your homework. There's answers to your questions all over this forum if you look around. Whether it fits will depend on alot of things like the type/manufacturer of tire you use (because they vary in actual size). I'd venture to say that size will not fit without help (off road stance, removing wheel well liners, trimming fender arches, more camber, etc...). Go lower aspect ratio (40 series) at least.

not only that.
-what's the offset of your wheel? -what's your ride height? i know that my 225/45/16's rubbed a little with a 7" et 42, though i ride on the low side. with 5mm spacers (leaves me at et37) i was popping off the rear arch at least 3 times a week. 225/45/17 is a full inch larger in diameter than the size i just mentioned. any reason why you're trying to stuff the well with so much rubber? it's quite a bit larger than the stock size and will affect your speedometer accuracy (not that it's very accurate as it is ![]() |

I think Joe is looking for more track bite in the turns & more side wall for better handling & control at the limits. He has an Automatic MINI & none is offering a limited slip for his application yet.
