Default WoOt! Got money for rims for christmas! Looking for opinions.

Hot Damn! I got money for rims for christmas. I'm looking at Rota Grids (copies of Volk TE-37's) My debate is between waiting around 3 weeks for gunmetal with a polished lip or getting gloss black with a polished lip within a week or so.

I have a Dark Silver with a Black roof.

What's the price difference in the real TE-37's?

Did a quick search...
Volk TE-37 - $480.25 each
Rota Grid - $167.50 Each

I had Rota's on my RSX for over 3 years so I know the quality is there. Just can't spend 2K on rims alone.

Wait the three weeks - get what you really want.

I will be honest and say i dont prefer gunmetal wheels on DS cars (except for on sam's car, but only because he has the monochromatic look going on so it works.) So i would PREFER black.....but Gunmetal would look good too Can't go wrong....buti WOULD say that if the wait is the only reason you are considering black....wait. There is no time where you should rush a purchase on your car.

The wait is not the only reason I'm debating. It is part of it, but the more I think about it, the gunmetal could be too monochromatic for my tastes. Plus it seems a little over done.

If this is purely based on style what do you guys think?

i also dont like grey wheels on grey cars...unless it's color matched perfectly...but i also dont like black wheels with a polished lip...sooooo, i say get gloss black wheels, with no lip...just all black =)
or white...i am just not into the polished lip look at all, and te-37's dont come with a polished lip so they are gonna look like serious fakes if you are trying to make em look like te-37's

TE-37's do too come in polished lip. Remember Chris' MC40? TE-37's in gunmetal w/ polished lip.

I concur, though--all black would look much hotter than black with polished lip.

Well, you can order "custom" colors directly from Rays Engineering, so I guess it depends on what you mean by "custom". They're definitely painted/powdercoated by Rays, as are Steve's new Volks.

The te-37's that come with the polished lip are the le-37's. Volk does that with a few of there wheels like the ce and le-28's. They are the same wheel but te's are solid colors and le's have the lip.

Oh and I agree that a solid black wheel would look the best. It will make it look really mean. Nowdays you see wheels with polished lips everywhere, it's a lot more rare to see a solid colored wheel.

I'm pretty sure they're TE-37, not LE-37. Dunno for sure, though. Randy ordered them for his car originally, then sold them to Chris.

If you ever looked real close at a te-37 you can see that it would be really hard to paint on a polished lip because when the spokes bend they become the lip. On the le's the spokes bend and stop and then there is the lip. It's kinda hard to explain . I'm pretty sure the ones your taking about are le's because I remember seeing that mc40 for sale on NAM and he posted them as le's. They were gunmetal with a polished lip and that guys car was pretty heavily modded right?

Hm... you're probably right. It's definitely modded up.
