Default Have you ever put grip tape on your pedals?

So I'll bet we can all agree that when your feet are wet the stock pedal covers are trash, my feet literally slip of all the time when wet. and when dry if im working the clutch or brake allot in traffic, or holding the clutch down waiting to merge, my foot slowly slides up to the point that my tow is on the arm and the pedal in the middle of my foot.
I have not been able to talk myself into buying one of those nice rough metal covers due to the 80+ dollar price.

So i was trying to think of other solutions, and thought about Grip tape. I googled "grip tape on pedals" and found allot of people have done it and liked it, and i actually found pictures of race cars using it.

so I'm going to run down to the local skate shop after work and grab a sheet, i think its about 6 dollars.

Just remove the factory slip on covers and stick it right onto the metal pedal trim and your done.

anyone ever done this?

I'll put up some pics when I finish it up this evening.

The chrome covers can come off, but the rubber ribs are left behind. You can take those off, but I find the pedals are too small then.

I bought the grip tape yesterday, but got distracted my margaritas and beer, I should be doing it this evening.

humm, i'm pretty sure I have had one of mine off before, and the chrome bit was part of the whole rubber bit that pops onto the front of a bare metal pedal.

well I will find out later for sure...

The chrome bit is just a cap that goes over the rubber pad with the ribs. That is the difference between the S pedals and the Cooper ones.

ahh i see what you mean. its the rubber that i have a problem with, wet rubber on rubber is crazy slick.

with the covers off its only a tiny bit smaller

if I don't like the grip tape I can always put the covers back on, or then drop 80 bucks on one of the nice pedal set

Went on pretty easy stick it on and trim the edges by scraping the edges with a screwdriver.

Good luck. I couldn't stand the discomfort of the small brake pedal after the first session of a track day myself. But I was wearing some thin soled shoes.

I have grip tape on my E30 track car. At the nurburgring it's often damp or just rained, so the rubber wasnt' working for me. The grip tape works much much better, and it's very cheap. When it starts to get slippery, I just pull it off and add new tape. I paid $5 for an entire skateboard worth of grip tape, and have only used 1/2 in 4 years.

no, doesn't bother me that they don't match, only my feet will see it. and the gas pedal requires such a light touch that slipping is not really an issue.
