Default Mushroomed Strut towers and blown dampers.....

Like the title says, last friday I went to install my Sparco strut tower brace and noticed that my towers had becomed mushroomed....and really bad at that! So my question is, how do I fix this....I've heard that you can beat them back into shape with a 2x4 and mallet? Has anyone ever done this??
Also, my OEM dampers are blown...well not totally blown, but one their way out at an extream rate....so coilovers or Bilstein SP's with new springs....I auto cross the car occasionally, my car see the twisties a copule times a month and I have a bumpy 9 mile commute to and from work.....so opinions????

You already know how I feel. I have SP's and love them. I am sure coilovers are nice, but I felt that for me it would have been an overkill.

And yes, 2x4 and a mullet should work. Although I've never seen it done.

Current set-up.......Esplier Active Super-Down's on OEM SS+ Sruts and shocks.....the lowering springs fatigued the dampers and the ride is getting worse and worse by the day.....other than that I'm running a 19mm solid rear sway bar in the rear.....

I've done the 2x4 and hammer thing before I put on the M7 plates. I didn't get them totally flat but good enough for the plates. I will make them totally flat before I add my camber plates.

If you do it yourself, be sure to jack up the corner you are hammering so you take the weight off the strut.
