JCW R50 TK : **SOLD***

Kit condition:
- Badges, Engine cover, and Air filter used.
-----side badges are bolt on; excellent condition.
-----boot badge is stick on; has always had (since new) what appears to be a chip in the plating at the top of the “C” in Cooper. Might be able to touch up. Otherwise, excellent condition. Adhesive tape has been replaced.
-----Engine badge stick on, excellent condition. Adhesive tape has been replaced.
-----JCW Air filter washed out and swapped with K&N, great condition
-----Engine Cover, very slightly marked at the bottom of the recess that fits around the base of the oil check tube. Marked up from routine checking of engine oil. Otherwise, excellent condition.
- OEM Sport Exhaust sold. Didn’t have JCW badges or JCW part number.
- All other parts (head and associated gaskets and hardware), NIB

YES ... according to this Aftersales Business Development & Marketing MINI Dealer Bulletin from April 2004:

The JCW kit is a complete performance package that is designed to take full advantage of the engine's design. The JCW Kit for the MINI Cooper includes a machined cylinder head for better airflow, “cat-back” exhaust system, air filter element and updated ECU programming. These carefully engineered performance modifications will bring the MINI Cooper to the 126hp horsepower level. The torque has been improved to 114 lbft.

As the kit delivers only a minor increase in horsepower and torque, the main benefit is the increased performance feel and mid range torque of the MINI Cooper.

YES ... as revealed in a November 2001 article in 4car.co.uk:

These mods take the MINI Cooper’s torque output up to 119 lb ft/162 Nm at 5000 rpm, and mean that it can now accelerate from 0-60 mph in 8.7 seconds. Its fuel consumption is 42.2 mpg and its carbon dioxide output 163 g/km. The John Cooper Works conversion takes the team six hours to complete, and the JCW cars can be distinguished by special badging, trim parts and a new exhaust finisher, as well as a special engine bay plate with unique number. The conversion costs £1,750 plus VAT and fitting.

This is a really neat kit that was hardly sold in the USA or the world one hell of a way to make your R50 unique!

Rumor has 26-30 kits in the US. I think its far less than that. No body knows what it is and its more rare than GP. Its pre GP. From what I can find at the dealership, this is the last one still uninstalled.
