Default 2007 Mini Cooper won't start -- Help Please

Hello, new member here. I have a 2007 mini cooper that I love dearly. It drove fine earlier yesterday, but when I got in it last night, put the key fob in ignition, pushed start button, nothing happened. Absolutely nothing!!! With key fob pushed in, no interior dashboard lights come on. If I push the knob to turn the radio on, it will come on. And when I take the key fob out of ignition, radio stays on. I'm so frustrated at this point. I'll gladly accept any advice given. I have no idea if this could be a battery issue...or if it is a computer issue. I was planning on having it towed into my mechanic later, but would like to have some idea of what is going on before I get reamed for being an ignorant girl. Any advice???

manual = clutch in to turn on

automatic = brake in to turn on

Yes, I have the brake pushed in when I'm trying to get it to turn on, like always. But nothing happening...

Is the steering wheel locked? Try pulling the wheel alittle.

I've seen the switch on the clutch fall off on the 07's before. If it is a manual stick your head down by the pedals and make sure that the switch is there and is engaging when the clutch is pushed in. If it is an automatic, I would expect there to be a similar switch on the brake.
