Rained in today
I made it home last night (barley, 65N was closed and luckily I was headed 65S) but was trapped in the neighborhood all day today. I walked down to the entrance of our neighborhood to snoop and was in about a foot of water. I saw this cop get into it with an idiot in an suv that drove through the yellow caution tape and was followed by 20 more cars. Good clean Sunday entertainment....
I'm just glad I was trapped at home and not work.

That's a lot of rain.

What's the time difference between these two photos (of the same location)?

Damn JoMo! Now you've got me wondering how all of the people heading west from the Dragon are...

Shanaynay 05-03-2010 02:45 AM

It is crazy. I got stuck here in Nashville on my way home. Tons and tons of water everywhere.

I was wondering about you guys, John. Glad to see you are high and dry. News is showing a lot who were not.

They were both taken while I was out waking, and a huge rain cloud rolled in, I'd say maybe 20 minutes???
The death toll last I heard was 13.

I drove through that mess on the way home. never have driven through such hard rain. saw a car or two floating on streets next to the interstate while I was concluding that I was surely the lowest car on the road at that time and the first to get stuck. I40 was closed in front of me, long detour, more stops because of cars and trucks flailing of the road and fallen trees blocking the interstate. you know those really cool rock embankments along the interstate through Nashville? They were now creating a million waterfalls, never seen anything like it. I feel pretty relaxed in rain normally but this was nuts, talking about aquaplaning and feeling a bit out of control at times. 17 hours in the car but I made it home safe :tu:
