I own a small custom metal fabrication shop that was started in the late 1800's...
Still in the same family that started it for the past 5 generations.... I run the business with my wife...

Thought I would share a few of the items we've made..

Very nice! That bar is cool. How long did something like that take? Do you do any automotive work?

Wonderful work, ... haaa, I now understand your member name here. ;) I have worked in wood for ever and would love to work in metal now, which I kinda do. You must be proud of your work for sure. Love the shop. Want. ;)

Thanks Greg
Back at you...:tu:

Ha... I use square tubing also...:D

NTFB 07-15-2013 07:14 PM

You're building a wing?! I respect your fabrication skills. I love watching TV shows where things get made. Every once in a while I get inspired and try to make something myself. I soon get reminded of my fists of ham then go back to watching TV.

The bar took about 1-1/2 weeks to make....

No automotive work, except a few things for my MINI....

Yeah, actually two, a right and a left wing... When finished, a full size Piper Cub as a static exhibit...

A nice lady asked me if I could make a birthday present for her husband who was out of town traveling on business...

Turns out he is the chef in their family and likes to cook....

They live in an older home and she wanted an "Art Deco" swinging door leading into the kitchen.... Oh, and it had to have a glass port hole....

We "quilted" the front and back surface of the door by hand with 20 gauge #4 brushed finish stainless steel...

We whipped this together in two days and she had a carpenter install it, all before he came back from his business trip in time for his surprise birthday party.... They were very happy with the result...

Made a "Origami" style reception desk for a local art museum earlier this year out of 1/4" thick steel, then had it powder coated... The shelves on the wall are mine too...

Nice stuff !! to get work in Jordan when so many other fabricators are between here and there shows how well known your work must be.

^^^ Thanks guy's...

A lady in the village asked me to make a copper hood with a SS filter / fan / light assembly. These are pre-made factory liner inserts by Vent - A - Hood and we insert them into our hoods.

Poor picture of the completed copper hood in my shop... All of the copper bars were 1/4" x 2" electrical copper buss bar that got a hammered finish by hand (this step was really time consuming and I probably won't do that again)....

Attachment 6907

She wasn't happy with the "newness" of the copper..... She wanted it to be old looking.... So a muriatic acid wash was applied followed by a satin clear coat to seal in the look.

Attachment 6908

Here you can see the Vent A Hood insert..... The SS rod "Tool Hangers" are mine....

In early June of last month I got to work with a local restaurant here in town. They wanted some unique planters and a pass through bar window for the outside patio seating area....

I was given a free reign in the design and construction.....

Finished construction out of 1/8" galvanized steel in my shop...
Attachment 6913

Set in place on the patio wall...
Attachment 6914

Paint coat applied with the epi wood cladding and unique SS fasteners...

Made this railing that went into a building that was originally a buggy factory from the late 1800's. It's two door down from my shop. The place was completely gutted and converted into three residential units....

Here's my railing against the back wall...

This was a 40' long cantilevered counter made out of 1/4" hot rolled steel attached to a rough exposed brick wall. I had to make it as a "bolt together" assembly that forced the finished unit to be straight and true. This meant the uneven wall needed to be shimmed out for proper support. Each 8' section weighed over 300 pounds.... Did all the bending on my 90 ton press brake....
