Made this railing that went into a building that was originally a buggy factory from the late 1800's. It's two door down from my shop. The place was completely gutted and converted into three residential units....

Here's my railing against the back wall...

This was a 40' long cantilevered counter made out of 1/4" hot rolled steel attached to a rough exposed brick wall. I had to make it as a "bolt together" assembly that forced the finished unit to be straight and true. This meant the uneven wall needed to be shimmed out for proper support. Each 8' section weighed over 300 pounds.... Did all the bending on my 90 ton press brake....

Amazing work man!!

Snip's 07-24-2013 04:32 PM

Thanks.....

I used to work for a large corporation for 25 years. My job became a tedious, boring, uninspiring, grey kind of existence.... Was up for a major promotion to a position of vice president with a nice salary increase, in charge of the corporate sales department.... During the review, I was informed of the advancement plans for me..... Had one of those "Aha" moments.... I thanked them and gave them my 3 month resignation in the review meeting.... Management was flabbergasted.... Afterwards I thought.... What the hell did I just do......

Took a one week vacation, then started running the my wife's company.....

Been having the time of my life.... And haven't looked back....

Captain Claw 07-24-2013 04:40 PM

That's a great story man :tu:
