Any issues with the airbag strap?

None...
I was real careful pulling the cover off... I also pulled the door weatherstrip off in the area where the plastic trim touched. The plastic cover was a little tricky getting back in place though...

Tit, were you thinking there was an airbag behind this cover piece? Not sure what you meant about issues?

Awesome, as usual. You're able to do what others might want to do as a hobby. It must be very satisfying.

Any videos of your machines in action?

Snip's 08-28-2013 10:56 AM

Thanks rkw...

"Any videos of your machines in action?"

Here is a unit I made as an interactive museum piece....
I had to calculate all of the metal dimensions with a very high degree of accuracy in order get the unit to operate properly..... If the axle point dimensions were off, the unit wouldn't work as intended...

http://youtu.be/d0nkkOg_5pA

The wheels were new OEM Kawasaki with stock pressed in bearings.... All of the tire pressures had to be the same....

Not very exciting, but I make the small aluminum strip on the back edge of the rear wing for MSR. You can just barely see my piece in this photo...

Commonly called a wickerbill or a Gurney Flap....

One of the local female news anchors in town had me do several items for her house....

She wanted me to wrap her built in fireplace with 11 gauge (1/8" thick) hot roll steel.... If I remember correctly the metal shroud weighed close to 400 pounds. The metal was then sprayed with a semi-gloss clear lacquer to prevent the panels from rusting...

This is the rough drywall fireplace enclosure I had to work with.
Attachment 7054

After getting the steel cladding in her house and attached with some large socket head screws I fabricated just for this job.

I was asked to contribute to a good cause in town. The Columbus Museum of Art will conduct an auction on Friday (tomorrow). The plan called for 15 Herman Miller chairs to be given out to 15 separate contestants to be modified in some unique way. The pieces would then be auctioned off to the highest bidder with proceeds going to the museum.

Started with a rudimentary sketch of what might be called a personal bar for a single individual....
The idea was to take a regular seating height chair and make it into a bar height seating structure.... Keep in mind, none of these submittals are to be taken too seriously.... More of a fun thing...

Attachment 7068

Started cutting and bending pieces..

Attachment 7069

Welding started first thing this morning

Attachment 7070

Finished by 11:00am today...
A piece of white marble will fit the top framework.... This surface is for drink preparation and final resting place during consumption.... The small cutout and shelf will support and present two bottles of liquor...

OK.... I pulled it off... Got it powder coated, assembled.... It's now on display at the museum...

There will be a judging and then the auction.... The festivities start at 6:00pm and runs to 9:00pm....

It's even displayed on a pedestal.... Hah....

Thanks...
Actually I have the OEM cat downpipe from a R56 JCW on my bench... taking measurements... But that's another project sitting in the wings.

Just was awarded another museum exhibit project that resulted from all my quoting last week... Got the order this afternoon to proceed... My part of the project is due early January, so I'll be quite busy... At the detriment of my current MINI projects.... ;)

Broke a stripper plate bracket off my 35 ton punch press.... As a temporary fix the pieces have been put back together with a little judicial welding... The part is a casting.... Brittle by nature.... And as such doesn't take to welding very well.... USE WITH CARE

Attachment 7159

Called the manufacturer and was told the part wasn't in stock.... The price in 2011 dollars was $1,600.00..... They would work up pricing for me in 2014 dollars and let me know.... Now this is not a big part.... Only about 8" tall and a few pounds....:( But to me it's an important part....:eh:

Oh.... And I was told there would be an "extended" lead time for a replacement.... They would need to get it scheduled through their foundry.... Then after being cast.... Scheduled in the machine shop for finish work and assembly.... They would let me know...

Had to go to work early this morning.... The shop door lock was frozen and my foreman couldn't get in....
Temperature was -8F.... Added a little mineral spirits to my key and was able to get the lock working....

Welded Stripper plate casting....

Attachment 7162

Got the stripper plate bracket disassembled.... A few of the bits and pieces that were removed from the bracket....

Attachment 7160

Got a couple of chunks of cold finished steel 1018 cut, scribed and began the layout process.... So far about $60.00 in material cost.... Figured I'd do something while I'm waiting on the phone call back from the manufacturer.... Am anticipating bad news....
